€10 million for developing sustainable raw materials for chemical industry

The province of Noord-Brabant, TNO, ECN and the Flemish VITO are jointly investing €10 million in the development of bio-aromatics: sustainable raw materials for the chemical industry. Shared Research Center Biorizon will use the funds to finance various projects designed to bring the ultimate aim closer: enabling the commercial production of bio-aromatics for industry in 2025. The four parties made this announcement in Antwerp during Biorizon's annual event.

Continued success for the Holland Biotech Pavilion at the BIO World Congress in Montreal

The BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology in Montreal took place from the 23th until the 26th of July 2017. The Netherlands was once again represented in the Holland Biotech Pavilion, which included 16 Dutch organisations and companies with a focus on biotechnology, biochemistry, energy, feedstock production, transport and logistics. Biorizon was one of the participants. The eye-catching pavilion was coordinated for the 5th time in a row by BE-Basic Foundation (requested by Topteam Chemie) as part of the Strategic Conferences Program.

Petra Koenders new director Green Chemistry Campus

As from June 2017 the Green Chemistry Campus has appointed a new director: Petra Koenders. The past years she led the Center of Expertise Biobased Economy. In this role she gathered extensive experience in facilitating biobased innovations. Furthermore she is familiar with the existing national and international biobased networks in the fields of administration, knowledge and business. According to the Campus' board of directors and shareholders these competencies make her particularly suitable to further develop the Campus in the years to come.

Biorizon covered by TV show Booming Brabant

Last week Shared Research Center Biorizon was covered by the Dutch TV show Booming Brabant. Scientific manager Jan Harm Urbanus and manager business development Joop Groen show how bio-aromatics can be developed from manure and sieving material from wastewater.
