Brabant congratulates Biorizon on its honourable mention

The province of Noord-Brabant received an honourable mention for its bio-based innovations at the Green Chemistry Campus in Bergen op Zoom during the presentation of the AER Regional Innovation Award on 30 November. The Biorizon Waste2Aromatics project was specifically mentioned.

Dennis van der Pas, manager Green Chemistry Campus & team member Biorizon receives the special prize.

The Biorizon Shared Research Centre, a TNO, VITO and Green Chemistry Campus initiative, works with partners on the development of technologies to produce aromatics from organic waste instead of crude oil. Aromatics are one of the most important resources for the chemical industry. Biorizon’s research and development will reduce dependency on oil and lead to lower CO2 emissions. By using waste streams as a raw material Biorizon is helping to facilitate the transition to a circular economy, offering profitable and sustainable prospects for the chemical industry and its supply chain.

The Waste2Aromatics programme obtains aromatics from waste such as nappies and compost. It is an example of the development of a promising business model. The project is going to be scaled up over the coming years with the ultimate aim being the commercial production of bio-aromatics in 2025. Bert Pauli, Member of the Provincial Executive of Noord-Brabant for the Economy and Internationalisation would like to congratulate Biorizon on this honourable mention.
